Three people have been arrested for alleged involvement in last Wednesday massacre in Birane village in Zurmi local government area of Zamfara State.
Those arrested are Halilu Garba, 45, alias Mabushi; Zubairu Marafa, 45, alias Wakili and Nafi’u Badamasi, 40, alias Zakiru.
The spokesman of the Nigeria Police Force, CSP Jimoh Moshood, who made this known in a statement said the suspects were assisting the Police in their investigation.
According to him, the men would be arraigned upon the completion of the investigation.
Following the determination to forestall a reoccurrence, the Police had promised to deploy three more mobile police units to the state.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, made this known on Saturday in Gusau when speaking with journalists.
He had visited the state to commiserate with the people of Birane Village in Zurmi local government area over the killings, and was received by the Deputy Governor, Malam Ibrahim Wakkala, at Government House, Gusau.
According to him, a committee had already been put in place to probe the massacre.
