The Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Akwa Ibom State, Ini Ememobong has condemned the police in the state for their explanation on the activities and mission of the political thugs apprehended and handed over to them recently.

The PDP publicity secretary in a press statement said the Press Release dated 7th March, 2019, issued and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Akwa Ibom state, MacDon Odiko, was a clear confirmation that the Police in Akwa Ibom state was the security wing of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Ememobong said the release strenuously sought, but woefully failed to explain to the public the reason for the arrest and detention of over 166 political thugs apprehended by the IGP Tactical Squad and handed over to the police headquarters on the 5th of March, 2019.

“This release was grudgingly made after the Commissioner of Police and the PPRO had evaded the press and all those who sought to know the official position of the Police on the arrest.

“To concoct such a hogwash in explanation of the ignoble event of the 5th of March, 2019 is an indication that the Police is descending to lower levels and has thrown caution to the winds in a bid to please the APC.

“The lame duck explanation by the police that the people loaded in buses came to Uyo to attend a Youth Rally by the APC is a very poor attempt at scenario creation, indicative of the disingenuous state of the script writers.”

He said liars should have a good memory, “but the liars in the Police force in Akwa Ibom have no memory at all. If they had memory or an ounce of sense they would have recalled that the APC had earlier issued a statement wherein they completely denied their expectancy of any visiting team, dismissing it as a PDP fiction.

“More laughable is the youth rally claim, as till date no information has been carried on any news media regarding the rally and none has been held. Or maybe the thugs were to have an exclusive briefing with the CP and APC youths – an event which the Police mistakenly referred to as youth rally. No action can be more shameful than the very ignoble connivance that the state command has had with the APC.

“The party encourages community leaders to activate local security measures in all the villages, as we cannot sit in wait for strangers to visit harm on innocent people in their homes.

“Finally, we are consoled by the scriptures that proclaim that they shall gather, but not by me. And they shall scatter in different directions. This is a divine mandate that will be preserved by only God Almighty.
