Several people were killed on Saturday in attacks carried out by suspected herdsmen on some communities in Plateau State.
The police however could only confirm 11 people killed.
The corpses of other persons, according to information, had been taken to hospital morgue.
The affected communities in Gashish district in Barkin Ladi local government area are Razat, Ruku, Nyarr, Kura and Gana-Ropp villages.
In Bokkos local government areas, communities affected are Daffo and Kuba.
Also hit were Daffo and Kuba communities in Bokkos Local Government.
Confirming the killings, the spokesman of the police in the state, Mr. Terna Yopev, said although many people might have been affected by the attacks, only 11 could be confirmed.
His words: “The gunmen invaded the villages on Saturday and killed several people. Based on the number of corpses recovered and buried, we can confirm 11 killed.”
The police spokesman said some corpses had been deposited at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) mortuary.

He added that security had been beefed up in affected villages.
Following the incident, the Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, has called on security agencies to do more to put an end to the continued attacks on communities by herdsmen.
The charge is contained in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Yakubu Dati.
The governor also commiserated with the families of the victims of the attacks.
The statement reads in part: “The governor has directed security agencies to end the attacks and apprehend the assailants.
“He has also challenged them to be proactive so as to restore stability to Plateau.”
