As their indefinite protest entered day two, Concerned Pensioners in Benue State, on Thursday, defied heavy downpour staying put in front of Government house, Makurdi.

The pensioners had embarked on an indefinite strike on Wednesday to demand payment of 25 months arrears of pension and gratuity owed them by state government.

Speaking to newsmen in the rain on Thursday, Chairman of the group, Peter Kyado lamented the insensitivity of government as no official of government has come to address them since they commenced the protest on Wednesday.

He said the rain cannot be worse than what they have faced in the last 25 months hence their resolve to stay put.

Mr. Ikyado said they were informed that the Governor and his Deputy, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) as well as the Head of Service (HoS) all travelled to Abuja and no one was around to address them on their grievances.

When the rain became heavy, some of the pensioners were seen taking shelter in the premises housing the office of the Special Adviser to Governor Samuel Ortom on Media.
