PENGASSAN suspends nationwide strike

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has suspended the nationwide strike it embarked upon on Monday.

The strike was embarked upon following the failure to resolve the crisis between PENGASSAN and Neconde Energy Limited over the illegal sacking of members of the union among other issues.

Announcing the suspension of the strike on Monday, the National Public Relations Officer of PENGASSAN, Fortune Obi, said the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, and the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, had successfully intervened in the crisis.

Obi said Neconde Energy Limited had recalled the members of the union that were sacked.

He said that management of the company had resolved to allow its employees to be members of PENGASSAN.

Obi added that PENGASSAN would also resolve other related crisis with other indigenous companies and marginal field operators soon.
