Dr. Vincent Anyigor, National Coordinator of Unit2Unit Initiative, has described the recent mass defection of  some federal lawmakers from All Progressive Congress (APC) to the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) last week as a political Tsunami to sweep away the ruling party and bury it during the general elections.

Anyigor, who spoke to newsmen in Lagos on Wednesday, said the mass exodus from the ruling party to PDP was a  clear indication of total rejection of APC and a confirmation of the trust of Nigerians in the ability of Atiku Abubakar, the  PDP presidential candidate, and Peter Obi, his running mate, to pilot the affairs of this nation and revamp its ailing economy and make life more meaningful for Nigerians.

He contended that as the people’s representatives, the legislators’ action represented the yearnings and aspirations of their constituents in whom, he stressed, reside the political power to determine who should get what and when, adding that it was a good omen for the country.

Anyigor commended the courageous action of the National Assembly members, saying that it had become obvious that  the present APC administration had nothing good to offer Nigerians, except high-handedness, nepotism,  division, poverty, anarchy, corruption, injustice and witch-hunting.

He maintained that Nigerians had suffered greatly in the hands of this tyrannical and dictatorial leader, even as he expressed happiness with the resolve by the citizens to take their destiny in their own hands by voting out President Muhammadu Buhari and APC during next year’s general elections.

Recall that the ruling party was hit by another gale of defections in the two chambers of the National Assembly when not less  than 15 APC Senators announced their movement to the PDP through a letter to DR Bukola Saraki, the Senate President, which was read at plenary.

Similarly, 32 APC lawmakers in the House of Representatives defected to the PDP, while four others, also from APC from Oyo State, defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The announcement, made by Yakubu Dogara, Speaker of the House of Representative, threw the PDP camp into jubilation.
