Political leaders under the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State have petitioned Governor Seyi Makinde on what they describe as acts of aggression being allegedly perpetrated by a party chieftain, Chief Ogunbiyi Adelana.

Ogunbiyi, popularly known as Agba, the leaders said, was breeding political thugs whose activities had made many people leave the party.

Complaining under the aegis of Beere Progressive Elders (BPE) the party leaders through their chairmanship, Alhaji Lateef Adio, and Secretary, Prince Ayodeji Tiamiyu, said Agba had a profile of instituting brigandage even to the level of intimidating members of his extended family and confiscating their properties.

“We recall a recent such incident where he seized the property of his late brother and prevented the children of the deceased their due inheritance.

“Besides, he has been sending thugs to the homes of party members that dared to oppose his views during our political meetings here in Beere in Ibadan,” the leaders complained.

The elders thus urged the governor to call him to order as he had been bragging around that he was well connected to the power-that-be in not only Oyo State but Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory as well.

They added that he recently invaded a political rally of the party in Beere and attacked the conveners, leaving many of the leaders severly injured.

They also recalled that in the skirmish two party members lost their lives in the ensuing pandemonium, for which he is still to be held accountable or prosecuted.

All efforts to make Agba respond to the petition proved abortive as he hollered on our correspondent, saying “I will deal with you if you dare call me again.”
