Students of Osun State University went on rampage on Wednesday, attacking motorists and journalists over the killing of one of their colleagues by suspected ritualists.
The students, all decked in black outfits, marched from their school campus at Oke Baale to the palace of Ataoja of Osogbo.
The victim of the suspected ritualists is one Oluwafemi Shonibare, a 400 level student of Microbiology Department of the school.
Shonibare who was declared missing on June 28 was reported to have been found dead later.
Investigation by the police led to the discovery of Shonibare’s body and the arrest of one muslim cleric, Sakariyau Abdulrofiu along with one Ibrahim Ayuba and Yusuf Aliu.
The suspects who were paraded by the police on Tuesdayconfessed to a plot to use the body of the deceased for ritual.
Abdulrofiu said Shonibare was hit with a pestle before he was later dismembered.
Angered by the development, the students went on rampage had set a part of the cleric’s house on fire on Tuesday.
The students also stormed the office of the Correspondent Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists located at Fagbewesa.
