Osun guber: Police arrest two over vote buying

The police have arrested two persons in Osun State over alleged vote buying.

The persons, names not disclosed were, were said to have been arrested at Iwo local government area of Osun State.

They were caught with N604,000.00 in their possession.

The Nigeria Police Force made the disclosure on its twitter handle, @PoliceNG on Saturday.

The tweet reads:  “Two (2) suspected vote buyers have been arrested by a team of police personnel on election duty at Iwo LGA of OSUN State and the sum of N604,000 recovered from their possession.

“Investigation is being intensified.”

Security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, have vowed to frustrate vote-buying in the Osun State governorship election.

In a statement on Friday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission said all machinery had been put in motion to ensure that vote-buying does not take place.

It warned that whoever might be involved in the criminal act would be arrested.
