Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has inaugurated the first Benue State House of Assembly Service Commission with a charge on members to be proactive and ensure the smooth running of the Assembly.
The Governor who inaugurated the commission on Tuesday, in government House Makurdi, also urged members to work harmoniously with the National Assembly Commission and the State Civil Service Commission as well as the leadership of the State Assembly.
He emphasized that as pioneer members, they have the task of laying a solid foundation on which future members would build saying they should be guided by extant laws governing the commission’s activities.
Ortom who expressed happiness that the milestone has been achieved during his tenure as Governor of Benue State said their appointment was based on previous experience, competence and adherence to the doctrine of fair representation.

Ortom also stated that the autonomy for state Assemblies was for administrative convenience and expressed hope that the cordial working relationship between the legislature and the executive arm would continue.
Responding on behalf of his members, Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Sylvester Atachin appreciated Governor Ortom for finding them worthy to serve in such capacity and promised to justify the confidence reposed in them.
Other members of the commission include Rt. Hon. Terseer Tsumba, Rt. Hon. Avine Agbom, Hon. Benjamin Mom Dogo and Hon. Ezekiel Adaji.
