Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has said he will liaise with the Federal government through the National Assembly and the Federal ministry of Water Resources to revamp the Ameladu Water Works, in Gboko local government area.
Gov. Ortom who stated this on Tuesday when he went on inspection of some projects round Gboko local government area of the state also inspected ongoing construction of roads, including Isaac Shaahu road, the Tor Tiv’s Palace among others.
Our correspodent reports that the water project was initiated and executed in 1993 by Gen. Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida’s administration and handed over to state government but was later vandalized in 2008.
The Governor who visited to assess the level of vandalisation said the project can not be allowed to waste but that he will liaise with the Federal Government, House Committee on Water Resource and development partners to make the water works functional.
Ortom said the level of vandalisation at the water works is beyond the state government capacity, hence the need to seek for collaboration.

He said he will provide adequate security to guard the remaining equipment from further theft and vandalisation.
Ortom said the water works is capable of providing over 9000 Cubic meters of water daily.
He said state government will also contribute it’s quota to ensure that the project works optimally to provide the water needs of the people.
Speaking on the Greater Makurdi Water Works, Ortom said the ongoing work there is 90 percent complete saying what is remaining is the reticulation works to enable Government supply water to Makurdi people.
