Department of State Security (DSS) has arrested major actors in the clashes that erupted in Akure, the Ondo State capital, from Saturday night till Sunday morning.
The Daily Independent reports that the security operatives went to town and began to raid the hide-outs of the miscreants who were allegedly working for the two major parties, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Among those arrested was one Ade Basket and some miscreants under the leadership of the state Chairman of National Union of Road Transport Workers(NUTRW), popularly known as Idajo.
Currently, Idajo is on the run as he had got wind of the arrest of his followers and moves to get him arrested in connection with the heavy shootings.
Sources revealed that the miscreants took over Oba Adesida Road/Oyemekun Road, Obanla Street, Oke Ijebu, Isolo, Ijomu areas shooting sporadically all through the night without any intervention from the Police.
Meanwhile, sources revealed that serious pressure is being mounted on DSS from some established authorities to release those arrested.
But as at the time of filing the report, the arrested suspects were still in DSS custody.
To forestall further break down of law and order, the DSS operatives had taken over all black spots in the state capital and Owo.
