Okorocha Says Free Education One of His Administration’s Achievements

Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo state on Tuesday said the provision of free education in the state was one of the great achievements of his administration.

Okorocha said this during the closing ceremony of the 2019 ‘Batch A’ orientation exercise at the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, permanent orientation camp at Eziama Obaire in Nkwerre Local Government Area of the state.

Represented by the Chairman of the Governing Board of NYSC in the state, Mr. Ifeanyichukwu Onwueyiagba, Okorocha admonished the corps members to remain dogged in the pursuit of knowledge noting that knowledge was power.

The outgoing governor disclosed that his administration had successfully built 305 primary schools and 27 Information Communication Technology, ICT, centres spread across the 27 LGAs of the state adding: “We are also constructing a modern ICT facility in Owerri capital city.

“We hope you will make good use of these provisions and bring your education to bear in development of society.”

In his speech, the NYSC state coordinator, Mr. Sunday Aroni, thanked the state government for its unwavering support to the scheme.

He also advised the corps members posted to the state to maintain cordial relationships with their host communities during their primary assignments urging them to be law abiding.

The state coordinator assured the corpers that the scheme would continue to cater for their welfare during the service year.
