Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance and one the two candidates still in the race for the position of Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has thanked President Muhammadu Buhari and Nigerians for their support so far in the race to headship of the world organisation.

Okonjo-Iweala and South Korea’s Yoo Myung-hee, also a woman, are the two candidates left in the race.

Reacting to her emergence as one the last two still standing, Okonjo-Iweala took to her Twitter handle to express her happiness on how far she has come.

She also expressed her appreciation to members of the WTO for their support of her candidacy.

The tweet read: “Happy to be in the final round of the @wto DG campaign. Thanks, WTO members for your continued support of my candidacy. I could not have made it without the prayers and support of all Nigerians and friends around the world. Thank you @MBuhari and all my friends. Aluta continua!”
