The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Benue State Council, has called for a deeper collaboration among stakeholders to reduce crimes and criminalities in the state.
The union made this called at its monthly congress held at the NUJ Hall of Fame, in Makurdi.
In a communique issued at the end of Congress and signed by the council secretary, Moses Akarhan, the council frowned at the rising spate of crime in the state recalling the vandalization of the NUJ Bus which was parked at its secretariat recently.
The council also cited the most recent and bizzare incident in Gbatse, Ushongo Local Government Area of the state where a gang kidnapped and killed 16 innocent people for ritual purposes.

The council therefore called on traditional rulers, other stakeholders and security agents to cooperate with one another to tame the rate of crime in the State.
According to the communique, the Congress also expressed satisfaction with the way the political class have conducted themself even in the face of the Tribunal’s judgement and commended them for maintaining peace in the State.
The Council during the meeting also inaugurated a Committee to work out modalities for the NUJ Press Week scheduled to hold in November, 2019.
