Effective from this year, 2020, Mass Communication would no longer be a course of study in Nigerian universities.
This is because the National Universities Commission (NUC) has phased it Out.
The commission, through its Executive Secretary, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, said it had unbundled Mass Communication into seven separate degree programmes to meet current demands.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Thursday, Rasheed stated, “The seven new programmes/departments to be domiciled in a Faculty/ School/College of Communication and Media Studies are Journalism and Media Studies, Public Relations, Advertising, Broadcasting, Film and Multi-Media Studies, Development Communication Studies, Information and Media Studies.”
He said that it would take effect from the 2020 university admission year.
