The Governor of Katsina State, Malam Aminu Bello Masari, on Tuesday warned the people of the Northern states of Nigeria not to be afraid restructuring the country.
The North, he declared, had enough resources and never poor to survive under the situation.
Masari gave the warning when he addressed the retreat organised by Northern senators on the need to restructure the country.
“We have resources. We are not poor. We should not be afraid of restructuring,’’ he said.
He however said the major problem with the North was that of poor leadership.

Speaking on the retreat last week, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, who chairs the forum, said they would also consider issues concerning the security situation in the country.
According to him, apart from the legislators, key traditional leaders and governors would be involved.
The essence, he said, was to take a common stand on the issue of restructuring.
His words: “Essentially, we will be discussing the impact of budget in the north, the issue of restructuring which is now the main issue in politics.
“We shall discuss the issue of restructuring so that the Senate can develop a position on. It is part of preparing ourselves to face that challenge.
“The issue of security will also be discussed.”
