Popular Nigerian actor, Obinna Nwafor, popularly known as Saint Obi, who was rumoured to have died some days ago, has been finally confirmed dead by many sources.
Saint Obi died at 57.
Though details of his demise remain scanty, some sources claimed that the veteran actor died in his sibling’s house, others suggested that he died at the Jos University Hospital, while battling an illness.
His demise, according to reports, could not be announced due to some disagreement amongst his family members. Insiders in the movie industry have, however, linked his death to a recent surgery that the actor underwent.
The President of the Actor’s Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, was quoted as saying that he could not confirm the news of the actor’s death, but he, however, promised to issue a state Sunday based on his interaction with family members. “I cannot confirm the news. However, I am talking with the family members and we would release a press statement on Sunday.”

Born on November 16, 1965, the Nigerian actor was famed for his roles in movies like Candle Light, Sakobi, Goodbye Tomorrow, Heart of Gold, Festival of Fire, Executive Crime and Last Party.
He studied Theatre Arts at the University of Jos. Saint Obi came into the acting scene in 1996, after doing a commercial for Peugeot on NTA. He starred in over 60 movies.
In 2001, Saint Obi produced his first movie titled Take Me to Maama, where he starred as Jerry, alongside Ebi Sam, Rachel Oniga, Nse Abel and Enebeli Elebuwa.
