The Benue State Police Command said nine persons have been killed in a clash between two communities in the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, CP Mukaddas Garba, disclosed that the clash which occured on Saturday, was suspected to be the usual crisis between Ikurav and shitile in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area.
Speaking through the Command’s Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Catherine Sewuese Anene, the commissioner said they were yet to confirm the actual cause of the clash.
Anene in a phone message told newsmen in Makurdi that the command had held several meetings to resolve the crisis between the communities but none yielded positive results.
She said so far, “nine deaths were recorded. The clash cut across three villages. There is no reason for the attacks and several meetings with the communities has yielded no positive result.”
