NiMet predicts cloudy weather, thunderstorms, rains for Thursday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudy weather conditions with isolated thunderstorms over the central states of Abuja, Makurdi, Lafia, Mambila, Kaduna, Lokoja and Yolaon Thursday morning.

NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office (CFO) on Wednesday in Abuja also predicted thunderstorms over the high ground in the afternoon and evening hours.

It added that the central states would experience day and night temperatures in the range of 28 to 32 and 17 to 23 degrees Celsius.

The agency predicted that southern states would experience localised thunderstorms, with rains over Akure,  Ado, Enugu, Umuahia, Abakaliki, Ikom and Owerri in the morning, with chances of isolated thunderstorms over most places in the region in the afternoon.

It also predicted that the southern states would have day and night temperatures in the range of 28 to 32 and 19 to 25 degrees Celsius.

According to NiMet, northern states will experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions in the morning hours, while sunny to partly cloudy conditions are expected to prevail over the region later in the day.

“There are chances of isolated thunderstorms over Yelwa and Kebbi axis later in the day with day and night temperatures in the range of 30 to 38 and 19 to 25 degrees Celsius.

“Also, partly cloudy and sunny conditions are expected over the northern states, while thunderstorms and rain will prevail in central, inland and coastal areas in the next 24 hours,” NiMet predicted.
