NiMet predicts cloudy skies, rains, thunderstorms on Thursday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted prospects of thunderstorms over the Central states of the country such as Kaduna, Bauchi, Abuja, Nassarawa, Jalingo, Ibi and Bida axis on Sunday morning.

NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office in Abuja on Saturday also predicted day and night temperatures in the range of 25 to 31 and 17 to 24 degrees Celsius, respectively.

It added that there were chances of thunderstorms and rains over Abuja, Lokoja, Jos, Makurdi, Lafia, Bauchi and Taraba axis during the afternoon and evening hours.

The agency predicted southern states would experience cloudy skies in the morning hours with prospects of localised rains over Calabar and Eket axis.

It also predicted thunderstorms and rain showers over the region during the afternoon and evening hours with day and night temperatures in the range of 29 to 33 and 21 to 24 degrees Celsius, respectively.

According to NiMet, Northern states will experience thunderstorms over some parts including Kano, Katsina, Gusau, Yelwa, Zaria and Sokoto axis during the morning hours.

“However, there are chances of localised thunderstorms over Maiduguri, Nguru, Dutse, Damaturu and Adamawa during the afternoon and evening hours with day and night temperatures of 32 to 36 and 23 to 25 degrees Celsius, respectively.

“Cloudy conditions with prospects of thunderstorms and rainfall activities with varying intensities predicted over the country in the next 24 hours,” NiMet predicts. (NAN)
