A seven man panel of the Supreme Court, headed by Justice Tanko Ibrahim Mohammed, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, on Wednesday dismissed the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, challenging the victory of Buhari at the presidential election.
The Justices unanimously held that the appeal lacked merit.
With the decision of the court, Atiku has no where else to go as the Supreme Court’s decision is final.
Following Wednesday’s judgment, some Nigerians took to the social media to express their views.

“It’s now quite obvious that the farce of a Democracy being practised under APC and Buhari may not end anytime soon as the CJN has for the FIRST TIME in any Democratic history in Nigeria departed from norm and handpicked Judges to preside over the Atiku appeal at the SC.”
@AdeBanqie
“Shout out to
1. Atiku’s lawyers
2. The brain behind non-existent INEC server
2. Osita, the useless Star witness
3. The fake Kenyan ICT data analyst
4. Vociferous Segun Showunmi
5. Atiku’s online defenders
Y’all are the real winners of Atiku’s FAILED appeal. Y’all cashed out.”
@ayosungoro
“PDP twitter spent the last 4 years insulting everyone who criticised GEJ’s govt or who once supported Buhari – instead of building coalitions to support their aims.
So, I’m wondering, at what point did PDP think they had Nigerians behind them? Nobody is out protesting for Atiku.”

“Congratulations to PMB on our victory. Atiku never had a snowball chance in Hell challenging the people’s verdict . The task at hand is not an enviable one and I hope PMB is guided by God, for economic development to crank up a notch,ditto security. God Bless Nigeria ??”
@RealSolaKuti
“Dear Nigerians, the matter don cast.
PDP cannot save you.
Atiku cannot save you.
The judiciary cannot save you.
The legislature cannot save you.
Only you can save yourself!”
@Nedunaija
“Sorry to you guys who were heavily invested in the Atiku project. You did no wrong. You did your best.
If u followed the process very well, then I’m sure you’d have seen the loopholes the ruling party exploited.
After some time off, please let’s start working towards reforms”

“There is no worse tyranny than to force a man to pay for what he does not want merely because you think it…”
#AtikuIsComing, although we had a failed hearing we shall not give up or ignore the fact that we have just lost the right to better governance. #atiku #PDP”
@akaebube
“My attention has been drawn to the fact that Supreme court has dismissed Atiku’s Appeal
Today’s episode reminds of when clattenburg was ‘picked’ to officiate Chelsea v Man U those Baba Fergie days
The man just gave 2 Red cards to Chelsea and it was game over”
@iami_kay
“Atiku leave this man alone make em just complete em 4 years make e go..dem tell you say we never tire? these lawyers go chop your money oo. lawyers no dey tell person say dem dey lose case oh ?”
@bashirosheyemi
“It’s all over for @atiku and @OfficialPDPNig.
The seven-man panel of the apex court led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Tanko Mohammed said that there is no merit in the appeal.
I always knew @atiku is never coming. “
@visualcash
“Dear @atiku, we’ve come to the end of the road as regards the 2019 elections. Like you I believe @MBuhari didn’t win the elections. But, with a judiciary that had been bullied and messed up, we’re here now. As the leader of the opposition this is the time to speak up and fight!”
@elorapha
“Casting this judgement as loss for solely @atiku, @OfficialPDPNig is certainly a display of ignorance that is famous amongst us. This judgement is affirmation of all that you have seen, and a declaration that all is well with Nigeria, which we all know is not!!!”
