The social media war between the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, and the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, has got tongues wagging.
Nigerians on social media have expressed mixed reactions over the issue of whether or not the Communications Minister forcefully evicted NIDCOM from an office space allocated to it by the Nigeria Communications Commission and whether it was proper for the two to bring the issue to the public domain.
Dabiri-Erewa and Pantami took to Twitter on Sunday, insulting each other over how NIDCOM lost its office space in Abuja.
While Dabiri-Erewa claimed they were ejected by the minister, Pantami said there was no truth in the NIDCOM boss’ claim.
Below are some reactions from Twitter users:
Suberu Ganiyu Ibrahim: “Honestly, I am disappointed with this act from the ministry and agency that I have so much respect for. With all due respect, if you refer to this as an inter- agencies collaboration, why not reach out to the DG of the Diaspora Commission to ask her staff to relocate from the complex and what happened since the complex was commissioned by his excellency? Honestly, we are not helping the president @MBuhari.”
Mr. EBEN: “I can’t believe a DR. drafted and signed off on that horrible statement. You said they were not sent packing, yet you stated, for security clearance etc, their belongings/items is being warehoused somewhere.”
Oluwa Femi. M. Olaguju (Femi): “This press statement is absolute bollocks, and NCC is just trying to be clever by half. The crux of the matter is that NDC was denied access to the building without regard. And till now they’re still not gotten access.”

Omiachi J: “This case is clear as day. There’s an agenda about this matter.
It’s hard for anyone to convince us that there’s no hidden motive behind this ejection of @nidcom_gov from the complex. This fight will come back to hunt some of you after Buhari’s tenure.”
Real Onyeka: “Whatever hidden motive is okay. Let all the abobakus serving this failed govt get a taste of the nonsense they are serving.”
Abubakar Uba: “@abikedabiri You think that can fetch you some sympathy by taking it so personal and tagging the subject as disrespectiful to women.
I can only wish you safe landing Madam!”
AWYHTE: “So she should shut up and not tag the same person that said hers is a fat lie?
Thank you @abikedabiri. Everyone should know that public office is transient. @DrIsaPantami should sort this out. If @nidcom_gov had asked him for office, shouldn’t he oblige them? Let’s be guided.”
Fareedah Ibrahim: “I don’t know the entire story but 1) How is this a gender issue 2)You adults couldn’t sort this out privately? 3) how can an adult say “big fat lie” to another 4) why laugh when you mentioned his PhD, what has that got to do with anything? You both should do better. SHAME!!!!!”
The Gbadamosi Voice: “Abike playing the gender card when she should hold her heads high like Oyo Ita who challenge Abba Kyari.
This ruddeless government that Abike is defending everyday has come to bite her.
Pantami has never been an Honest person. His antecedents are here for all to see.”
Major General Buhari Olayinka (MG…) : “It Is Absurd To Bring This Kind of Matters To The Public Domain, Pls.
The Matter Can Be Settled Amicably Between The Parties Involved, Better Still The Party Chieftains Can Intervene; This Matter Is Capable Of Sullying The Government If Not Properly Managed Pronto.”
LANCE CORPORAL ALIYU Musa G: “The agency is under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This is the Ministry with the most elegant and grandiose building in Abuja, with more than enough office space, why was the Agency not allocated a temporary office thereto start off.”
The FlipSide: “How’s an agency of govt created without rightful space for operations?
Also, some set up themselves into position of authority to pursue personal ego & parochial endgame instead of public good.
I believe the skirmishes is uncalled for.
It shouldn’t have got to this show of shame.”
