Again, Nigerian doctors separate conjoined twins

Four months old twins conjoined have been successfully separated by a team of Nigerian doctors at the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, in Yola, Adamawa State.

The operation was carried out on May 14, 2018.

It is the second of its type in the hospital.

The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Auwal Abubakar, who spoke with journalists at a press conference in Yola, said the twins had a good chance of survival.

Said he:  “We had a successful operation of conjoined female twins (omphilopagus). The development was recorded following a team work from different medical units.”

Again, Nigerian doctors separate conjoined twins

 

Speaking on the feat, he said it was a proof that Nigerian doctors were as good as those in other parts of the world.

According to him, rather than travel abroad, Nigerians should obtain medical treatment in Nigeria.
