Head Coach of CHAN Eagles, Salisu Yusuf, has expressed confidence his team will do well at the forthcoming African Nations Championship, (CHAN) 2018.
Coach Yusuf said he was targeting good results to qualify the team for the finals.
As part of preparations for the championship, Mr. Yusuf said 30 players had been invited for screening ahead of the first-leg of the qualifier against the Benin Republic
The screening, according to the head coach, took place in Kano while the qualifying match has been fixed forAugust 13, in Cotonou.
Speaking with NEXT EDITION from Kano where the team is camping, the Super Eagles assistant head coach said Nigeria will qualify because his players are in great shape.
“We will qualify. I believe in the group, the team, and players because the players are doing very well and playing regularly for their respective clubs,” Mr. Yusuf said.
“They are bringing their current form to the team and they made it to the national team based on performances for their clubs and they are all in great shape, they are great guys.
“The players are responding well to training, and we have been provided good accommodation and all the facilities are top-notch.”
Coach Yusuf said he was targeting good results to the qualify the team for the finals.
“I want to us to qualify, and I believe we will qualify, my target is to get good results and positive goals,” he said.
The winner of the two legs will get a ticket to play at the finals in Kenya, the host country for CHAN 2018.
