The Gubernatorial candidate of All Progressive Congress, APC, in Benue State, Emmanuel Jime has commended residents of Makurdi for the peaceful manner in which they conducted themselves during Saturday’s elections.
This is just as some card readers used in some parts of the state malfunctioned.
At Ndabagi polling unit 011, North Bank, Makurdi, most people who came out in the early hours of the day, including the APC guber candidate, Emmanuel Jime had to wait for four hours before they could be screened to cast their votes.
The APC guber candidate who arrived the polling unit in company of his wife, Comfort, expressed enthusiasm that he finally voted and hoped that it will be same for all Nigerians.

“This is a process that should have started since 8am. The fact that we still have a huge crowd here shows that Nigerians are ready for change.
“We should not make the electoral process unattractive for electorate. I feel I’m on the ballot today because if my president wins, it makes it easier for me to win my election in two weeks time.”
He explained further that if the president was coming from the same party with him, it would be easier for him to attract dividends of democracy to the state.
He urged Benue people to remain peaceful throughout the 2019 elections and after the election.
Meanwhile, our correspondent observed that voting was largely peaceful in most parts of the state. In Makurdi, the state capital, the streets were deserted as most people were at the polling units to exercise their franchise.
