Collation and announcement of results of Saturday’s elections will begin today, Monday, February 25, by 11am.
Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof Mahmood Yakubu disclosed this during the formal inauguration of National Collation Centre in Abuja on Sunday.
Setting the ground rules for the collation and announcement of results, Yakubu noted that the centre will remain open till the end of the elections, but with adjournments when necessary.
According to Prof. Yakubu, the INEC office in Ekiti State, which is the first state to have completed the collation of the presidential election result, will make its presentation when the centre reopens today.
Yakubu said the collation officer for Ekiti State was on his way to Abuja.

Nigerians, on Saturday, February 23, went to the polls to elect new leaders in the Presidential and National Assembly elections.
The announcement of the final result will follow a 13-step procedure according to the INEC Chairman.
