The National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) has rolled out a strategic plan to enhance the quality of education in schools to meet international standards.

Professor Muhammad Shafi’u Abdullahi, registrar of the board, stated this at the commencement of a capacity building workshop on human capacity development organised by the board in conjunction with the Institute of Information and Strategy Management.

Abdullahi, who was represented by Ahmed Abdul-Fathy, the board’s Director of Legal, said topmost among the plan was the posting on attachment of trained NBAIS staff to all Arabic and Islamic schools to serve as Quality Assurance Officers, in collaboration with relevant departments in the state’s Ministries of Education.

This, he said, was to help in the effective implementation of NBAIS school syllabi and curricula which would greatly assist in addressing the falling standard of education in Nigeria.

The board, he added, would also organise capacity building programmes for teachers through in-house workshops and seminars in collaboration with schools, the states’ Ministries of Education and the Federal Ministry of Education.

The aim, he said, was that at the end, the board would be furnished with quarterly reports of schools activities for a well guided advice to federal and states’ Ministries of Education, among many others.

He assured that the programme would excel in providing the way for lasting solution to the prevailing educational crises that led to the falling standard of education in our schools, adding that the programme would bail Nigeria out of the present challenge in the face of Africa and the world in general.

Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, the Gombe State governor, who was represented by Alhaji Farouk Yarma, the Commissioner for Youth and Students Affairs, called on the board to use the programme to create and give the youth a better future.
