The Lagos State chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday, threw its weight behind the Feb. 26 party’s National Convention.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that some stakeholders in APC had rejected the proposed Feb. 26 date for the party’s national convention.

Speaking to NAN, Mr. Seye Oladejo, Lagos state Publicity Secretary of the party, said the chapter welcomed the Feb. 26 date as the national convention was long overdue.

“The announcement of the date of convention is a welcome development on our path. It has been long expected.

“Feb. 26 is sacrosanct. It is good for our democracy and good for our party,” he said.

“It is also an image thing and to show that as a party, we are managing our affairs properly the way it is expected of a ruling party,” he said.

Oladejo said  the chapter had been making preparations for the convention and that its delegates would vote for the executives of their choice to run the affairs of the party for the next four years.

After weeks of uncertainty, the APC’s National Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, led by Gov. Mai Mala Buni, on Jan. 18, affirmed Feb. 26 as the date for the party’s national convention. (NAN)
