Staff of the National Assembly under the aegis of Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, PASAN, has said it will stage a protest over unpaid salaries and allowances on Tuesday December 4.
Secretary-General of the union Suleiman Haruna, who disclosed this in a statement in Abuja, said the first phase of the protest would take place between December 4 and 8.
According to him, the action which will commence at 8 a.m. and end by 2 p.m. daily on the stipulated days, would take the form of a protest and picketing of offices within the assembly.
He stressed that the union would not tolerate default from members.
Hauna explained that the union was forced to resort to protest due to the nonchalant attitude of the national assembly leadership toward their demands.

According to him, members were demanding to be put on the Consolidated Legislative Salary Structure, CONLESS and the release of all pending staff promotions and conversion letters with arrears fully paid on or before Dec.31.
Haruna further disclosed that the association has already issued a two-week ultimatum to the management to fulfill their demands or face strike.
