Chances that former President, Goodluck Jonathan, would appear as a witness in the ongoing trial of the former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Olisa Metuh, over alleged financial malpractices appears to be dim.
This is because Metuh has declared that he could not meet the condition upon which the former president said he would appear in court as witness.
Metuh had sought the leave of the court to invite both the former president and his National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, to appear as a witness in the ongoing case against him.
Following an order by the Court of Appeal, Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court in Abuja summoned Jonathan and Dasuki to appear in the case filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, against Metuh.

Despite the pleas by his counsel, Mr. Ahmed Raji, that he should be excused, the Department of State Services (DSS) brought Dasuki to court.
He however could not testify as he was said to suffer “memory loss” and would need to refer to some documents to enable him to be accurate.
Jonathan, has however, demanded the sum of N1 billion from Metuh for the logistics of bringing him and his security aides among other things from Otuoke, his home town to Abuja to appear.
But speaking at the trial which continued on Wednesday, Metuh said he did not have such money to pay for the facilitation of the appearance of Jonathan.
