Family members of the Clerk of Benue State House of Assembly, Mr. Torese Agena, on Friday, attacked officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Makurdi, following his investigation for alleged fraud and stealing of over N220 million.
The Zonal Head of Public Affairs, Nwanyinma Okeanu disclosed this in a press statement made available to newsmen in Makurdi on Friday.

She said they witnessed a spectacle at the zonal office of the EFCC as the wife of a suspect in EFCC custody, Mrs. Agena Terngu and her two daughters, Terfa- Mamadu Ngweavese and Agena Suur attacked some officers inside the EFCC office in Makurdi, Benue State.

Tue statement read in part, “Today, Friday, January 17, 2020 at about 10:00 hours, a suspect named Torese Agena, Clerk of the Benue State House of Assembly who is being investigated for alleged case of fraud, stealing and misappropriation of public funds to the tune of over Two hundred and twenty million Naira (N220,000,000) currently under the EFCC custody, invited his wife and children to the EFCC’s zonal office in Makurdi where he is being held.
“The wife, Mrs. Agena Terngu and her daughters, Terfa Mamadu Ngweavese and Agena Suur assaulted two mobile policemen on duty while giving the third a human bite on his left arm and tried to run down another with their car while trying to escape.”

The statement further explained that the suspect, Torese Agena, is currently in detention on a valid remand warrant obtained from the Federal High Court, Makurdi.

It said the suspect’s wife as well as the two daughters who carried out the assault were handed over to the police for onward prosecution while the main suspect, Torese Agena Clerk of the Benue State House of Assembly, is being processed to be arraigned for prosecution as soon as investigation is concluded.
