The Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, has debunked the allegation of illegally sharing N 10 billion from the national treasury.
She said the claim as published in an online publication was not true.
The allegation, according to her Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Mr. Oluyinka Akintunde, in a statement made available to The Next Edition, was mischievous and made-up.
“The article displays a worrying lack of understanding of Appropriation, Payments and Control, and therefore should be disregarded by the public,” she said.
The minister further explained that warrants were issued in accordance with appropriation and after due approval by the Cash Plan Committee chaired by the minister.

She said attempts to link her to the “factually defective and incorrect report were highly regrettable.”
“There is absolutely no truth in the report of the Honourable Minister being involved in any fraudulent scandal as alleged by the online medium,” the statement further reads.
In the publication, the N 10 billion was said to be money released to lawmakers as part of a secret N50 billion approved for the execution of “constituency projects.”
Senate President Bukola Saraki and other lawmakers were reported to have discreetly inserted the money into the budgets of several ministries, agencies and parastatals.
Saraki had also denied the allegation.
