The Rivers State Government on Sunday confirmed 27 new COVID-19 cases in the state.
The confirmation was made by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Paulinus Nsirim, in a statement on Sunday evening.
According to him, the manager of Prodest Hotel, one of the hotels demolished by Governor Nyesom Wike, some weeks ago, Bariledum Azoroh, was among the new cases.

Azoroh after the demolition was detained, tried and convicted by a magistrate court in Port Harcourt while under a 14-day isolation.
According to the commissioner, the hotels were demolished because “the owners violated Executive Order 7 which banned the operation of hotels.
He recalled that the COVID-19 Taskforce members from the Local Government who went to enforce the Executive Order were brutalized and dehumanised leading to the death of one of them.”
