Man Docked For Allegedly Forging NCE Certificate

A man, Okpenge Ogor, was on Wednesday docked in a Makurdi Upper Area Court for allegedly forging a Nigeria Certificate In Education (NCE).

The police charged Ogor with criminal conspiracy and forgery.

The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Veronica Shaagee, told the court that the case was transferred from Oju Divisional Police Headquarters, to the State CID, Makurdi via letter No. AR:3100/BNS/OJ/VOL.8/170 dated Aug. 10,

Shaagee averred that on July 4, Mr. Martin Ogbeche of the College of Education Oju, Benue  reported the case on behalf of the Management of the College.

She said the informant reported that on Dec. 13, 2021 Okpa Ijowu, Omachi Onaji and Okpenge Ogor all of various addresses conspired among themselves and forged the  NCE cetificate for one Okpa Ijowu.

She said during Police investigation, the Ijowu and Onaji Nathaniel were arrested and charged before an Upper Area Court in Makurdi while Okpenge Ogor who absconded has now bee arrested,

She said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 97 and 365 of the Penal Code Law of Benue State, 2004.

She said investigation into the matter was still ongoing.

The plea of Ogor was not taken for want in jurisdiction.

The Magistrate, Mr. Vershima Hwande, said since Ogor was ill, the court will admitt him to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one reliable surety in the like sum.

Hwande adjourned the case  until Dec. 12 for further mention. (NAN)
