UEFA Champions League 2019/2020 season began Tuesday night as defending champions Liverpool visited Napoli at the Stadio San Paolo to begin their Champions League title defense.
The reds began their title defence with a 2-0 away defeat at the hands of Napoli in Italy.
Dries Mertens put in the first goal as he converted from the penalty spot eight minutes to the end of the game following a foul by Andy Robertson who tripped Jose Callejon inside the box.
Fernando Llorente who came on as a substitute for Hirving Lozano in the 69th minute, made it two in stoppage time to put Liverpool to shame.
In the other Group E match, Salzburg beat Genk 6-2.
