A Makurdi High Court presided over by Justice Augustine Ityonyiman has ordered that fresh hearing notice be served on the Publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore and Sesugh Akume in the N150 million libel suit instituted by Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State.
When the case resumed, the defendants didn’t appear in court, neither were their lawyers in court.

Counsel to Governor Ortom, Richard Ayilla prayed that the defendants defence be closed and judgement entered in favour of the plaintiff, Governor Ortom.
But the Court graciously granted an adjournment to January 14, 2022, for the defendants to be served fresh hearing notice.
Recall that, on the last adjourned date, November 10, 2021, the lawyer to the second defendant, Akume was present and participated in the proceedings wherein Governor Ortom’s lawyer called two witnesses and closed his case.
