The Associate priest, St. Peter’s Catholic Parish, Keffi, Rev. Fr. Godwin Apesuu, says the Lenten season is a period for people to prepare for Easter through fasting and prayer.
The cleric said this on Friday in Keffi in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He said that it was also a period to reflect on thier lives and make amends.
Apesuu urged Christians to fast, pray and give alms to the needy during the lenten season.
He said “Lent is meant to be a time of repentance for Christians who observe lent correctly to anticipate deeper intimacy with the Lord.
“Lent is the season to observe and commemorate the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Christian’s saviour and redeemer.
He further said that in difficult moments that Nigerians faced over fuel crisis, people should pray earnestly for God’s intervention to save the nation and its citizens.
He urged Christians to use the Lenten season to intensify prayers for distressed Nigerians, leaders and for the country to overcome its current challenges.
He also said that for believers to keep their faith alive, they should believe in God who made all things because “He is our source and Creator”.(NAN)
