Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, on Wednesday the commitment of the Nigerian Army to professionalism.
This is as he maintained that the military followed the rules of engagement in its dealings with #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate on October 20, 2020.
Burutai spoke in response to the recent CNN investigative report on the Lekki shooting which indicted the military.

The report had alleged that the Nigerian army used live bullets on protesters during its intervention in the protests, making reference to forensic evidence to back the claim.
The Television network also published photos of some #EndSARS protesters who have been missing from the Lekki Toll Gate presumed dead and killed by the military.
One such victim was identified as Victor Sunday Ibanga.
CNN quoted current and former Nigerian military sources as confirming that the bullet casings “match those used by the army”, noting that two ballistics experts also confirmed that the shape of the bullet casings indicate they used live rounds.
However, reacting to the report, when he received members of the House of Representatives committee on Army at Army headquarters, Abuja, Buratai insisted the Nigerian Army did not and will never operate outside the rules of engagement.
“Let me assure you and all Nigerians that the Nigerian Army is a professional Army. We follow our rules of engagement. Nigerians should feel safe. We abide by rules of engagement and the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria,” he maintained.
