Governorship candidate of the Alliance for Democracy, AD, Owolabi Salis on Sunday said the Lagos elections in the state would be a contest between the people and an individual.

Lamenting that the resources of the state were in the hands over an individual, Owolabi Salis said he would dislodge that monopoly by creating what he called Grassroots Executive Council in all the wards in the state.

Salis, who spoke at the Lagos governorship debate, in response to a question on why Lagosians should vote for him in forthcoming elections said: “I am in this race to address the problems of the less privileged in Lagos State and we are the majority. A lot of people in this state are going through a lot because of the way the resources of this state are being managed. It’s actually in the hands of an individual. Many people are sycophantic about it, but I have been going around talking about it to the stakeholders, Mosques and Churches, that they must come out and speak for the people.

“We are doing our grassroots campaign; door to door because this contest is the contest of the people versus the individual. We are also going to remove the violence they have created in the state so that Lagos will be peaceful and we shall do this by creating grassroots stakeholders executive council in all the wards in the state,” he said.
