The gale of defection has continued to sweep across Kwara State as 23 House of Assembly members have left the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The Speaker, Ali Ahmad, led others.
Only one legislator, Saheed Popoola, who represents Ojomu/Balogun constituency, remains in the APC.
The defection was announced on Wednesday by the Speaker through a letter which he read at plenary.
The lawmakers announced their decision to leave the party at plenary on Wednesday.
“All the honorable members except one have finally changed party to the PDP.
“Today, as I and other members of the Kwara State assembly dump the APC for good, I heave a sigh of relief. Today, I am the happiest leaving the APC for good. I wish I was never a member of the party,” he said.
Recall that earlier in the day, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, also resigned from the APC.

The lawmakers and Abdullahi’s resignation came some hours after the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State announced their exit from the APC.
