Health officers from the Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State on Tuesday continued with the fumigation of communities under the council jurisdiction.

Mr. Adewale Ajibesin, the Council Supervisor for Environment and team supervisor, said the exercise was meant to rid the area of the dreaded Coronavirus ravaging the state and Nigeria in general.

Mr. Ajibesin disclosed that the fumigation, involving over 40 officials, was simultaneously ongoing in all wards in the council area, and was led by the Executive Chairman, Mr. Afolabi Sofola, and other top-notch members of the LGA.

According to Ajibesin, the exercise which commenced last week, was at the instance of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who directed all councils to fumigate all areas and LCDAs in the state.

“We started with the fumigation of bus stops, markets and densely populated areas in the council area.

“Today, we have fumigated Ifako, Araromi Ifako, Sholiyi, Gbagada and Medina.

“We are going to Mende, Maryland, Oworonshoki, Ogudu and Ojota areas in the council area,” he said.

Ajibesin assured no community within the council area would be left without being fumigated.

He appealed to the residents of the council area to observe the sit at home order as directed by the state, and federal government for two weeks.

However, a resident of the area, Mrs. Hellen Egbunike, appealed to the team to extend the fumigation exercise to cover inner residential areas where a large concentration of people resides.
