Chief Joseph Erico Ameh, a governorship aspirant in Kogi State, has urged the people of Kogi State to return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) if they want to see meaningful development.
Ameh, who spoke in Lagos on Thursday, said the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had only brought misery and poverty to the people.
He said development had eluded them.
Ameh, a security expert, lamented that a lot of people in the state had died through insecurity occasioned by the menace of herdsmen.
He said farmers were no longer safe in their farms, a situation which he pointed out had increased the hardship in the state.
He said that Bello’s APC administration must be given a red card in the next election for the people to experience positive change in the state under a PDP government.
He added that it had become clear that the incumbent governor had nothing to offer.
Ameh said: “If the people will vote me in as their governor, my administration will provide employment opportunities, empower the youths and women who have been idle over the years, resuscitate moribund companies and create enabling environment for the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to thrive.
“For how long will Kogi people continue to record deaths by suicide and hunger due to non-payment of salaries and pensions by the APC administration of Yahaya Bello?
“It is time for Kogi people to change the ‘Change’ by returning PDP to power in order to experience positive change in the state and in their lives.”

Ameh stressed that the people of Kogi in particular and North Central in general were traditionally PDP zone until the area was forced to embrace the APC in 2015 through false promises for the enthronement of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He maintained that after three years of the APC administration, the people had realised that the ruling party had nothing to offer them.
He said the right thing to do was for the entire zone to return to PDP where they rightly belonged.
Ameh stated: “As successful as APC was in winning elections, it has left Kogi people poorer. There is no affordable housing for the people. There is poor standard of education. There is poor health facilities and lack of infrastructure. Workers are also not paid.
“Kogi people really need a change now. They have suffered enough. We have never had it so bad. Things cannot continue to be like this. Other states in the zone have realised their mistakes in embracing APC and are retracing their steps. Kogi will not be left behind.
“That is why I have offered myself as I am touched by the misery of the people. I am a change agent. I will restore hope to Kogi people who are now in a state of hopelessness due to the three years of Bello’s maladministration.”
