Just a few hours after bodies of victims of Abagena IDP Camp herdsmen attack were laid to rest Friday May 21, 2021, gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have, again, attacked another community in Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue state killing nine persons.

Tse Ancha is a Community less than a kilometre from Abagena IDP Camp.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Catherine Anene, confirmed the attack to journalists in Makurdi on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Executive Chairman of Makurdi Local Government, Mr. Anthony Dyegeh, has visited the scene of the attack for an on-the-spot assessment and evacuation of corpses and the injured to the hospital.

Mr. Dyegeh condemned the attacks on innocent Benue citizens and called on security agencies to rise up to their responsibilities of securing lives and properties of citizens.

The Chairman confirmed eight deaths; seven men and a woman saying five others were badly injured and have been taken to Benue State University Teaching Hospital, (BSUTH), Makurdi.

Also, the Special Adviser to the Governor of Benue State on Security, Col. Paul Hemba who accompanied the Chairman to the scene called the people to stop relying on Federal security alone but stand up to defend themselves and their land.

He extended Governor Samuel Ortom’s condolences to the people and prayed for peace to return in the state.

Also at the scene of the attack, an ATM Card bearing Audullayi Sabo with life and empty bullets were picked at the scene of the attack.

Meanwhile, member representing Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency, Benjamin Mzondu, has condemned, strongly, the Friday night attack on innocent citizens, at Tse Ancha, in Agan council Ward.

Mr. Mzondu in a statement, signed by his Media Coordinator, Skilful Normal, expressed sadness by the attack which claimed eight innocent lives in Tse Ancha by the Marauding herdsmen.
