Prolific footballer and ex-Nigerian International, Kanu Nwankwo, has launched a N1billion lotto, the biggest in Africa.

The lotto was floated in order to raise funds for the Kanu Heart Foundation (KHF) and also help build a specialist cardiac hospital in Abuja.

The lotto, which KHF is running in conjunction with AfroMillionsLotto.com, offers a jackpot starting from N1 billion.

In a statement issued by APO on behalf of the brains behind the lotto and made available to The Next Edition, Nwankwo said, ” we are excited to launch this major fundraising initiative for the Kanu Heart Foundation and hope people will support it by buying tickets, helping us to build a new heart hospital for Nigerians.

“Not only could people change their own lives with the potential to win the jackpot of over N1 billion, they can help to change the lives of other people by supporting our Foundation,” the statement said.

According to the statement, 20 per cent of every ticket sold would go directly to KHF to help it continue its work of ensuring underprivileged children across Africa with heart problems get the treatment they need.

The first KHF.AfroMillionsLotto.com draws will take place on Wednesday, October 18 and the website in addition offers nine, ‘candy crush’ style, instant Win games, which can be played for fun or to win cash prizes of up to N12 million.

“If there isn’t a jackpot winner, the prize money rolls over, increasing by N100 million with each draw until it reaches a maximum of over N2 billion,” the statement stated.

It further explained that “the Kanu Heart Foundation AfroMillions lotto sells tickets and displays jackpots in Euros because it is the currency of choice for the lottery industry. However, people pay to play in Naira.  and when they win, they will withdraw money in Naira too. By promoting the lotto in Euros, we can offer the biggest jackpot in Africa.”

KHF, which was launched in 2000, has since inception paid for over 500 children with heart conditions to be treated at facilities throughout the world..
