Commissioner for Education and Chairman Almajiri Repatriation Committee, Sanusi Kiru, disclosed this on Sunday, when he led a delegation of women in Da’awah and some civil society organisations to inspect two quarantine centres at Kiru and Karaye respectively.

The commissioner noted that basic social amenities, with hygienic feeding were strictly observed in all the three quarantine centres to ensure that the Almajiris were in good health condition.

He recalled that the northern governors had agreed to deport Almajiri pupils to their states of origin as a way curbing the spread of COVID-19 across the affected states, adding “We have deported hundreds of Almajirai to many northern states and we have received many from other state government.”

He said that in the next two to three days, deportation of the quarantined Almajiri pupils would commence.

He stated that those evacuated from other states to Kano, who were interested in the newly established Almajiri boarding schools initiated by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s administration would be enrolled.
