The Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari, Garba Shehu has apologised for giving out incorrect information on the number of schoolboys abducted from the Government Science Secondary School, Kankara.
He tendered the apology via Twitter on Friday after 344 boys were released and returned to Katsina a week after they were abducted.
Recall that Shehu had maintained that only 10 boys were abducted from the school.
However, hours after the boys were released and returned to Katsina on Friday, he took to his Twitter handle saying the number he gave was not in anyway meant to downplay the seriousness of the situation.
He explained that the number was made available to him “by persons that should ideally know.”

The tweet read: “I apologize for the incorrect communication citing that only 10 students were kidnapped at the science school, Kankara.
“This communication of numbers was provided by persons that should ideally know. These numbers were seen to conflict with what was available at that time.
“Please understand that this communication was in no way done to downplay the seriousness of the situation.
“Please accept my sincere apologies on this matter as we continue to move our great Nation Nigeria forward. Thank you.”
