The Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure has sentenced the founder of Sotitobire Praising Chapel, Prophet Babatunde Alfa and five others to life imprisonment after finding them guilty in the 2019 disappearance of a one-year-old child, Gold Kolawole from the church.

The other accused persons are Omodara Olayinka, Margaret Oyebola, Grace Ogunjobi, Egunjobi Motunrayo, and Esther Kayode.

Kolawole went missing on November 10, from the premises of the church where he had gone for service with his parents.

All efforts to trace his whereabouts proved abortive.

Justice Odusola condemned in strong terms the complicity, compromise and lackadaisical attitude of the Ondo State Police command after Kolawole went missing, an incident that led to the burning of the church.

Prophet Babatunde was arrested on December 10, 2019 by the Department of the State Services following a petition by parents of the missing child.
