President Muhammadu Buhari has applauded the Super Eagles for defeating the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in a World Cup qualifier at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom.
The event which held on Friday saw the Eagles winning by a wide margin of 4 – 0.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President, Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, the president is quoted as saying that worthy of commendation was the disciplined, skilful and entertaining display against the defending African champions.
President Buhari, while noting that Nigeria was on the verge of qualification for the World Cup in Russia 2018, urged the players to sustain the momentum as they approached the crucial second leg of the tie in Yaounde, on Monday.
The president in the statement enjoins Nigerians to continue to pray and support the team to guarantee victory next week and make qualification doubly sure.
The president also commended the Akwa Ibom State Government for its continued support and provision of excellent hosting facilities.
