The Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has summoned an emergency security meeting with all local vigilance groups in the state.

The meeting is scheduled to hold by 1pm on Monday, August 5 at the Government House, Enugu.

A statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Simon Ortuanya, said the meeting was informed by the unfortunate death of the Parish Priest of St. James The Greater Parish, Ugbawka in Nkanu East Local Government Area, Rev. Fr. Paul Offu, on Thursday.

Ortuanya, expressed the sincere condolences of the state government to the family of Rev. Fr. Offu and the entire Catholic Diocese of Enugu, over his unfortunate death.

He disclosed plans for air surveillance by the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, along Ihe-Agbudu axis, Awgu, Aninri, Nkanu East Local Government Areas and their environs, as part of measures by government to improve the security of the state.

The government scribe encouraged citizens of the state not to panic when they see increased airal activities, which he said was targeted at fishing out criminal elements in the affected areas and beyond.

He assured that the state government was committed to securing lives and property in Enugu State and would continue to sustain the existing peace in the state.
